Bio: Shawn Tompkins was born and raised in Tillsonburg, Ontario Canada and started in martial arts at the young age of 6. Beginning his training in Shotokan Karate. By the age of 16, Shawn was a 2 time National Karate Champion, he is now a 3rd Degree Black Belt and has had his black belt certificate signed and stamped by the Prince of Japan. An honor very few have accomplished.
Mr. Tompkins started kickboxing when he was 16 years old and has competed in over 47 matches, holding Canadian, North American and South American Titles. He also trained under the Lebanese Thai Boxing team in Venezuala at age 21. Shawn opened the very first Team Tompkins training Center when he was only 18 years old.
In 1999 Shawn met Bas Rutten, King of Pancrase Champion as well as the UFC 20 Hevyweight and since then has been trained by and represents the Bas Rutten MMA Systems. Shawn Tompkins was also inducted into the 2009 Masters Hall of Fame. Due to his continued contribution the Martial Arts and the fact that he has trained such high level MMA superstars as Ray Sefo, Randy Couture, Vitor Belfort, Dan Henderson, Mark Coleman, Chris Horodecki, Sam Stout, Mark Hominick, Junie Browning, Kimbo Slice, Wanderlei Silva, Jay Heiron and 100's of others in every major organization. .
